The 18th Annual Popularity Awards

Those of you familiar with my gaming habits might be a bit surprised that I'm not more excited about the 18th birthday of my favorite video game and in turn the 18th Annual Cacowards (no, really... that's what they're called). (Or is it the 8th Annual Cacowards? They've called it both on different pages.) I guess it's just hard for me to get excited about a popularity contest in a clique that has done its best to make me not want to be a part of it. I'm not disparaging the quality of the projects that have received awards, mind you, I just don't feel like baking a cake is all I'm sayin'.

And just for the record, "Bloodshedder", the cake picture is on the right side, not the left.

  1. If the cake is hardcoded to show up every Dec 10th, you would think by now people would know which side of the page it is on. Not that it matters much, 'cause the cake is a lie!!!

  3. I don't really like award ceremonies, they always seem like a "look how great we are" thing.

BTW, I wonder how long it'll be before we get a good opportunity to reference the arrow in the knee meme, as opposed to all the bad ones :)

Oh great; now I've got National Lampoon's Attack of the 5'2 Women stuck in my head. Thanks for that.

  7. Well, it was kind of hard to live through the early '90s and not know about the whole Harding/Kerrigan fiasco.

Doubly so once Saturday Night Live and National Lampoons got done with it.

  8. Not to be a contrary ass, but the cake Bloodshedder spoke of replaced the random graphic seen at the top-left of the forums page (and has since turned back to normal; that is, random images). He was not in fact talking about the image that appeared alongside the news post.

  9. My apologies to both Bloodshedder and the cake. I stand corrected.
