Just a quick reminder for anyone who might have missed the big news...
...both Ultimate DOOM and DOOM II are now available on XBox LIVE.
Personally, I can live without this; the games are WAY better and more diverse on the PC. I don't even own an XBox 360 and perhaps never will. Furthermore, the XBLA version only contains two maps that weren't in the original and they're only mediocre in my opinion.
However, I mention this here because some folks may not want to download all the things necessary to play Doom on the PC, may be daunted by what I've described needing to be installed, don't play games on the PC or simply don't want to let go of the $10 to get the IWADS if they don't already have them. If you fit into any or all of these categories but still want to play Doom now and again, you can play it on your XBox 360.
While on the subject I should also mention that Ultimate Doom, Doom II, Final Doom and The Master Levels are also available on the original XBox on the discs Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil. So if you have the Microsoft consoles and want your Doom without the PC, you're in luck!
And if you're not at all interested in Doom but just felt like wasting some time reading my ramblings, I thank you for stopping by. All visitors are always welcome.

I don't own any gaming consoles, let alone a Microsquash one, so the availability of the Doom titles on Xbox live is not of any particular interest to me, except to be happy to know that those classic titles are still popular enough to warrent the release.
ReplyDeleteWould have been nice if the PC versions of Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil had the same goodies though :)
